Public hearing scheduled on 2050 general plan update
By: Staff report
The Lincoln City Council will conduct a public hearing to receive testimony on the draft 2050 general plan update. The hearing is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at the McBean Park Pavilion, 65 McBean Park Drive. This hearing will review requests made for changes to the draft 2050 general plan and consider approval of the final Environmental Impact Report and adoption of the general plan update. Lincoln planning commissioners unanimously recommended approval of Lincoln's general plan update in a special meeting Feb. 28, citing the need for timeliness during a process already seven years in the making. Like the city's 1988 general plan, the new version maps out guidelines for zoning, development and public works. By California law, a project must be consistent with a city's general plan to be approved. Lincoln initiated the update in 2000 to address its growing population, which “ despite a recent slowdown “ city planners anticipate could reach 120,000 by 2050. If approved by council members, the plan would go before Placer County's Local Agency Formation Commission later this year for sphere of influence approval. Copies of the general plan update can be obtained at the Community Development Department or by going online at www.westplanning.com/-docs.lincoln.
