The Family Night Out, this past Friday night was an outstanding kickoff to the school year, outstanding publicity for Lincoln High School athletics and extra curricular activities, the community of Lincoln, and an introduction to the community of Lincoln to the character-education program that we are attempting to raise funds for at Lincoln High School: We are Lincoln, building GREATNESS within – one student at a time! The night was incredible! The food was great, the entertainment was spectacular and the turnout was awesome in spite of the hot weather. The school’s marching band, the chorus and Dudley and the Doo Rights rocked the house. Representatives from the Fighting Zebra Football Team read a character creed: I am a student. Most importantly, I am a student of CHARACTER. My CHARACTER has produced a CONSCIENCE within me to see the world through CARING eyes. When I see injustice, it becomes my CAUSE. Standing for what is right takes COURAGE. Practicing inclusion and empathy takes COMPASSION. My active pursuit of these traits, will give me the tools to CHANGE the world. I am a student. I am a student of CHARACTER. I am a Lincoln Fighting Zebra! Jay Berns is Lincoln High School principal.
