Placer County's NorCal Runners 16U AAU basketball to hold tryouts

The NorCal Runners, a boys 16U AAU basketball travel team, will hold tryouts from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25.

Players who are current high school freshmen and sophomores and won’t be 17 years of age on Aug. 31 are eligible to try out. The team is for those who aspire to play college basketball.

Tryout registration will be held from 1 p.m. to 1:30, and potential team members must attend the Saturday tryout. A second tryout will be held Sunday (Feb. 26) for players who are asked to return.

The Runners will practice two times a week from March through July and compete in eight tournaments, three of which are NCAA-certified events.

Biletnikoff golf tourney June 4

The eighth annual Fred Biletnikoff Hall of Fame Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, June 4, at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln.

The tournament is played in memory of Biletnikoff’s late daughter, Tracey, and benefits several causes in the Sacramento and East Bay areas, including Kids First in Placer County, the Dacia Biletnikoff Dance Scholarship, youth sports programs, a STAND safe house for domestic violence victims and more.

The event features many current and former professional athletes, including Raiders and 49ers players.
