Paul Garcia passed away Thursday evening, Dec. 2, 2004 after a courageous 2+ year battle with cancer, at his home in Lincoln with his loving wife Deloris and family by his side. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rivera Garcia and his son Paul E. Garcia. Paul was born June 7, 1926 in Pueblo, Colorado. He moved to Lincoln at the age of 10 and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. Paul served both in the Army Air Corp. and the US Army. He was employed at the State of California Department of Water Resources and worked until 1975 when he transferred to the Agricultural Labor Relations Board. He and Tom Caddell held the first Farm Labor Union election in California. Paul had many interests including reading, mining, agriculture, crossword puzzles, classical music and was a lifetime member of the Lincoln Rifle Club. Paul was happiest when the presence of his many family members who survive him; his loving wife Deloris, his daughters Lisa (Tony) Avila, DeAndrea(Bruce) Pearson, Patty (Mark) Fowlers, and son Larry (Gail) Von Wald. Grandchildren Derek and Daniel Avila and Michelle Von Wald. Sisters Elsie Barraza and Lorraine Silvas, 13 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews and dear friend Randy Kaphart. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday Dec. 14, 2004 10am at the Lutheran Church of Resurrection 6365 Douglas Blvd, Granite Bay. A graveside service will immediately follow at the Lincoln Cemetery. Paul was an inspiration to us all and we will forever miss his kind and gentle nature.
