Lincoln’s run in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Soccer Playoffs came to an end at the hands of Vista del Lago last week.

The Eagles Cody Sherfy scored his team’s only goal in a 1-0 victory and advanced Vista into the championship game. The Eagles captured the section crown with a 1-0 win over Galt.

Vista, the top seed in the tournament, controlled things early in the game. Nick Michaels got the assist on Sherfy’s goal.

“It was a team effort,” Sherfy said. “The ball was built up in the back and Nick got the ball up to me at about the 18. I carried it a bit and put it in the bottom right corner.”

Sherfy received a red card later in the game for spiking a player on a tackle and was ejected.

Lincoln came into the game seeded No. 4. The Fighting Zebras advanced to the semifinal game via a 1-0 win over Dixon in round one.
