Motorcycle ride to raise reward money
By: Brandon Darnell, News Messenger Reporter
A benefit motorcycle ride will be held July 25 to raise reward money for the as-yet-unsolved case of the murder of Robert Vargas in his home in Lincoln last year. The Reggie Lagow and Robert Vargas Father and Son Memorial Run is working in conjunction with Placer County Crime Stoppers to raise that reward money, according to Jennifer Nunes, event organizer. Lagow died after a quick bout with cancer in 2004, and was well-known as a coach of both little league baseball and pop warner football, according to Nunes. “We’ve known them forever, and it seems so unfair that this happened to him,” Nunes said. “We wanted to do something in their honor and try to help out if we can.” The ride will follow a favorite route through the Sierras of the father and son, who were both ironworkers and avid motorcycle enthusiasts. The route will end at the Onyx Club in Roseville, where a barbecue and raffle will be held. Registration for the event will be held behind Clinton’s Custom Cycle at 555 G St. in Lincoln from 9-11 a.m. July 25 with the ride departing after registration ends. Fees to participate in the ride are @25 for single riders and $40 for pairs. In addition to motorcycles, lowriders and hot rods are welcome.
