Man hired to help move now a suspect in burglary
A Lincoln man was arrested Sunday for burglary after he allegedly helped a resident move, later returning to steal items from the house, police said.
Brandon Teague, 19, was contacted by a resident of the 100 block of O Street to help move over the weekend, said Lt. Paul Shelgren of the Lincoln Police Department. The 19-year-old Teague was arrested Sunday night.
Teague stole electronic equipment, clothing and currency, Shelgren said. The estimated value was more than $300 and officers Monday tried to recover the items.
“Generally, you’ve got to be very, very careful who you hire to help you move,” Shelgren said, adding that reputable companies or good friends are safer than contacting a stranger on the street.
“It doesn’t pay to contact someone on the street you don’t know and have them help you move,” Shelgren said.
