Majors heat up as Padres gain ground

Giants overtake Red Sox

The Lincoln Little League Majors? saw the Giants come back to knock off the Red Sox 9-6 and put a one-game claim on first place in the standings as of Saturday. The Padres blanked the Yanks 6-0 to get within 3 of the lead and the Phillies held on to third by handing the Rangers a 14-3 loss. In earlier action, the Friars gained ground by a 4-3 margin over the Phils. The BoSox got a scare from the Bronx Bombers before prevailing 3-2 and the Boys from Brotherly Love got past the Rangers 6-5. The hot team is the San D nine winning their last five games, including 12-6 decision over the Beantowners. Schedule Tonight the Pirates and Phillies square off at McBean Park, 7:15 p.m. Saturday?s lineup includes: Red Sox at Phillies (1 p.m.), Giants at Padres (3:30) and Pirates at Rangers at 6. In a big game Monday the Giants entertained the Sox, the Rangers try to derail the Padres Tuesday and the Yankees visited the Giants Wednesday.
