Localized flooding continues, sandbags available this week

Localized flooding continues on some of Lincoln’s streets, and sandbags are being made available for residents as the rain continues to fall, said Jill Thompson, spokeswoman for the city of Lincoln. “It’s self-serve,” Thompson said, “there’s bags, sand and shovels.” Sandbags are available at two locations – 2100 Flightline Drive and the fire station on the corner of First Street and Joiner Parkway, Thompson said. Public Works is not staffing the locations, but residents who need special assistance can call 434-2450. Moore Road between Delancy and Portello Way is still experiencing flooding, as it was last week, with one lane closed to traffic. Brandon Darnell can be reached by e-mail at
