Lincoln tennis splits with Colfax, Bear River

Fighting Zebras are 3-1 in league

After a soggy setback against Bear River, March 28, Lincoln fought back to defeat Colfax 6-3, the following day. At Bear River the Bruins got the better of the battle with rain showers and tripped up the Fighting Zebras, 6-3. It was Lincoln’s first loss in the Pioneer Valley League. In singles play, only Elizabeth Magana was able to score a victory. She defeated Shelby Carrow 7-5, 6-4. Kaitlin Fisher also suffered her first loss of the season bowing to Kirsten Malo 2-6, 3-6. Brandon Waidmann and Connor Furgeson kept it close but were unable to prevail. The Zebras Vadim Kotyash and Blake Waidmann again teamed up for victory in their doubles match against Jordan Seeley and Patrick Shirvanioun 3-6, 6-4, 10-8. Lincoln’s Abner Apsley and Isaac Thich were defeated in straight sets. Nicole Salgado and Alyssa Hubiak beat the Bruins’ Casey Smith and Kirsten Dietrich 3-6, 6-3, 13-11. Rikha Unciano and Kriz-Ann Hinahon fell 2-6, 2-6. Mixed doubles also went to the home club with Shane Green and McKayle Miller topping Tyler Newberry and Nicolette Lipman 2-6, 5-7. The loss dropped the Zebras into second place in the PVL with a 3-1 record. Lincoln’s match at Placer was rained out and rescheduled for April 16.
