With each team looking to notch their first win in Pioneer Valley League competition, the Lincoln varsity girls basketball team was unable to maintain their early lead and fell to Foothill 36-30 Friday.

Both teams started fast, but defensive efforts on each side made for a low-scoring affair.

Despite shooting 1-for-10 in the final period, the Zebras had a chance to take the lead when Cassandra Pisik’s layup cut the Mustangs lead to two.

Late turnovers by the Zebras ended their comeback attempt and placed the club as the only winless team in the PVL.

On Jan. 22, the Zebras will get another chance to shed their unfortunate distinction as they host Colfax.
