Lincoln runners show improvement at second PVL Meet

The Lincoln High School cross-country team made some improvements in the second Pioneer Valley League Meet held in Colfax last week. The frosh/soph boys placed second behind Placer and the varsity girls took third. Fighting Zebras’ senior athlete Abi Lund improved her performance by coming in fourth at Colfax. In her first PVL performance she placed seventh. Also improving on their efforts were Haley Higgins (19th to 12th), Kali Federwisch (32nd to 24th), Savannah Berkley (31st to 26th) and Kelsi Snook (33rd to 31st). For the varsity boys, Dylan Toerpe trimmed his position from 18th to 17th and Uriah Smith went from 37th to 30th. In the boys frosh/soph division, Evan Deatherage went from 13th to eighth. Also improving were Aaron Jackson (11th to 10th), William Barker (20th to 16th) and Brian Ackerson (19th to 17th). The final PVL Meet will be held at Lincoln’s home course on the OLE property at Twelve Bridges, Oct. 24. Subsections begin Nov. 3 at Frogtown, Angels Camp. The top 10 teams at subsections (top six non-varsity) advance to sections along with the top 10 runners in each division that do not qualify as team runners. Varsity Boys – Fourth Place, Dylan Toerpe (15th), Sean Gage (18th), Jacob Edwards (21st), Pascual Marquez (26th), Uriah Smith (27th), Bryant Garcia (31st), Liam Hao (36th). Frosh/Soph Boys – Second Place, Evan Deatherage (6th), Aaron Jackson (8th), Daniel Hagge (12th), William Barker (13th), Brian Ackerson (14th). Frosh/Soph Girls – Fourth Place, Megan Snook, Alex Ceja, Kelsy Prentice (individual place not indicated).
