Registering for Lincoln recreation classes and activities is about to get a whole lot easier. Beginning on Tuesday, the Lincoln Recreation Department will offer online registration by teaming up with San Diego-based Active Network Inc. With online registration, thousands of recreation participants will now be able to view, register and pay for the department's many activities, including youth camps, dance, gymnastics, jazzercise, tennis and swim lessons at any time, from any Internet-enabled computer 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are excited to be the first city department to offer an online service that provides a flexible and convenient solution for customers to register for our programs, said Mandy Walker, assistant director of recreation for the Lincoln Recreation Department. For the first time, our customers can pay online with a credit card, and our staff is able to view up-to-date program information and manage all activity from a centralized database that will streamline operations across the department. We are thrilled. By making online registration services for classes, programs and activities available 24/7 via the Internet, the department can reallocate staff time to increase services and reduce the paperwork required to process registrations. Community members can search for activities; view program details, schedules and availability; register in just minutes; and pay online with a credit card. As an added convenience, registrants will receive an e-mail immediately following an online transaction to confirm their enrollment in a program. San Diego-based Active Network Inc. (www.ActiveNetwork.com) is a provider of software technology and marketing solutions for community service organizations.
