Lincoln offers recreation options

The City of Lincoln Recreation Department is conducting registration for its fall and winter youth sports programs. Programs being offered include a one-day Lincoln Youth Football Boot Camp, Lincoln NFL Youth Flag Football, the fall session of Lincoln Youth Volleyball and the Lincoln Youth Basketball League. For more information or to register, visit www.LincolnYouthSports.com or call 434-3224. Lincoln Youth NFL Flag Football This league is for boys and girls, grades 3-8. Lincoln Youth NFL Flag Football is a non-contact, 5-on-5 league with weekly practices and games scheduled on Saturday afternoons and early evenings so that soccer players can participate. All participants receive an official Lincoln Youth NFL Flag Football jersey. Practices start the week of Sept. 7 and games start Oct. 4. The program fee is $85 and the registration deadline is Aug. 28. NFL Flag Football Boot Camp The Lincoln Youth Football season is upcoming so this is a chance for the players to get in some extra training. This is a one-day, three –hour camp that will cover everything from throwing passes and running routes, to defensive coverage and agility training. Players should bring water and cleats are optional. Grades 3-8 are welcome to attend this event at Foskett Regional Park. The program fee is $20 and the registration deadline is Aug. 28. Lincoln Youth Volleyball The Lincoln Youth Volleyball league is for boys and girls, grades 3-8. Third and fourth graders will participate in the developmental league to help them develop key fundamental skills, an enthusiasm for the sport, and to encourage them to join future leagues. This is a fast-paced, 12-week, eight-game program with weekly practices and scheduled matches on Sunday afternoons. Practices start the week of Sept. 7 and games start Oct. 4. The program fee is $85 and the registration deadline is Aug. 28. Lincoln Youth Basketball This league is for beginning and advanced players in grades 1-8 so whether you are looking to learn the game and to take your skills to the next level, there is a spot for you in Lincoln Youth Basketball. The program fee is $95 and the registration deadline is Oct. 26.
