The annual Lincoln Little League Baseball Opening Day ceremonies will take place this Saturday at McBean Park ball field. The combined baseball and Lincoln Girls Softball Association parade is scheduled for Saturday morning prior to the ceremonies. The opening day event for softball will take place on a later date at a different location. Staging for the parade will be along A and B streets beginning at 7 a.m. The parade starts at 9 and goes west up 6th Street from A and B streets. The procession then turns left onto F Street and will again make a left onto 5th Street. The parade then makes a right turn onto D Street and crosses Highway 193 to McBean Park Drive and ends at McBean Park. The Lincoln Police Department will be directing traffic. Parade signs will be put in place on Friday with traffic prohibited in those areas during the parade. Lincoln Little League asks for everyone’s patience as traffic along Highway 193 will likely be halted about 10 minutes as the parade passes. The ball teams, children, and adults involved are looking forward to this day of celebrating Lincoln youth sports. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come out in support of the coming season. The Lincoln Little League Baseball festivities continue at Larry Costa Field between 10:30-11 a.m. after the parade concludes. The Majors’ Red Sox and Phillies are schedule to play ball at 3:30 p.m. As always the snack bar will be in full swing with tri-tip sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs and goodies galore. Have lunch at the ball field and help support Lincoln Little League Baseball.
