Lincoln heads into spring break on top the PVL standings

Lincoln High’s baseball team continued its hitting ways to defeat visiting Placer to head into spring break with a 7-6 win and a 4-0 record in the Pioneer Valley League. The Fighting Zebras James Pallas and Jake Sola combined their pitching and their hitting to keep the Boys in Blue undefeated in league play and 7-5 overall. Pallas slammed two doubles in the contest and drove in two runs. Sola also doubled and had a run batted in. Also stepping up to the plate for Lincoln were Isaiah Garcia, Kody Kencke, Joey Valdez, Julio Martinez and Jordan Albarron. Each had a single and Albarron had two RBI. Albarron also had a sacrifice fly in the game. Placer also had three doubles with Kyle Wells collecting two and Austin LeBleu one. Wells also had two RBI in the contest. Three of the Hillmens’ runs were unearned. Pallas got the credit for the victory. He gave up one run on four hits and struck out two. Sola earned the save while striking out five. Lincoln is scheduled to return from spring break to play Bear River in Lincoln, April 10. The Zebras defeated the Bruins 5-4 in their first meeting with Sola hitting a triple and a double to drive in three runs. Colfax is the only club in the PVL Lincoln has yet to play. The Falcons are scheduled to visit April 18. They are 2-1 in league and 4-1 overall. In the Easter Tournament over spring break, Lincoln defeated Yuba City 13-5, and lost to Oak Ridge 9-1. Lincoln had 10 hits against the Honkers, including five doubles.
