Lincoln girls set school’s fastest team time at sectionsBy: Staff Report
Lincoln’s freshman/sophomore girls were the only team to advance to the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Cross Country Championships and they made the best of it as the top five runners finished within 83 seconds of each other last weekend.
Fighting Zebras’ freshman Haley Higgins led the team crossing the line in 15:15 for 21st place. She was closely followed by fellow freshmen Megan Snook (23rd, 15:34) and Alex Ceja (24th, 15:38).
“Although this (frosh/soph) group did not place as well as the previous two years,” wrote Lincoln head coach Doug Croall in an e-mail, “they actually ran a faster team time than we ever have had.”
Also running for Lincoln were sophomores Anika Lehenbauer (27th, 16:08), Kelsy Prentice (31st, 16:46) and Lauren Gage (38th, 18:41).
