Albarron throws five-hitter
LAKE OF THE PINES _ The Lincoln High baseball team came up a game short against Bear River to suffer their first loss in the Pioneer Valley League race. The Bruins pushed across a run in the bottom half of the seventh for a 2-1 victory last week. Senior Jordan Albarron had things under control on the mound, but the boys in blue just couldn’t produce the runs. Albarron pitched the full seven innings and held the Bruins to just five hits and he gave up only one earned run. Albarron also struck out six batters. The Fighting Zebras managed to get just three hits off Bear River pitching, one a double by Kody Kencke, who is batting .667. Julio Martinez singled in Lincoln’s only run in the second inning. Lincoln remained in a tie with Colfax for first place with a 4-1 record. Bear River improved to 2-3 in league play. The Zebras were scheduled to travel to Colfax Tuesday and then host the Falcons in a rematch today.
