Edward Alexander Grey Sports Complex played host to a dual meet between Pioneer Valley League rivals Colfax and the Lincoln high track and field squads last week.

The Lincoln boys ended the day’s event with a near 20-point victory. The Fighting Zebras’ girls took six events but weren’t able to get a team win over the Falcons.

Heralding in the boys performance, Zach Evans nabbed top honors in four-separate events.

In the 100-meter dash, Evans captured gold with an 11.4-second finish. In the 200m, Evans beat out Colfax’s Adam Gutierrez by a single second. Evans other first-place finishes came as part of a team in the 100m and 400m relay events.

Josh Myers turned in a strong performance as well by grabbing three first-place finishes on the day.

In the 110m hurdles, Myers held off Colfax’s Jaden Williams by a .07-second difference. Myers again defeated Williams in the 300m hurdles by a margin of .09 seconds. In field events, Myers brought in a top performance in the high jump clearing 5 feet 8 inches. Dylan Toerpe cleared 9 feet in the pole vault, Liam Hao 22-10 in the long jump and Cameron Tatem 40-01 in the triple jump to also earn first-place points.

Although the girls were unable to overtake Colfax in total points, the Zebras had some individual winning efforts to help build for future meets.

Kali Federwisch performed exceptionally by racing to the No. 1 spot in two events. The senior kept a pair of Colfax runners at bay in the 200m with a 29.4 finish. Scheduled to run in the very next event, Federwisch took a deep breath and clocked 1:09.4 in the 400m for gold.

Kelsi Snook again controlled the airways taking top honors in the high jump and pole vault. The senior leaped to first with a jump of 4-04 and a vault of 8-6.

Marian Baker won the 4 kilogram shot put event with a toss of 25 feet half inch. She was also second in the high jump and Alex Ceja came in second in the pole vault and triple jump.

Christa Kittle flashed to first in the 100m hurdles turning in a time of 17.7 seconds. Kayla McKnight was just behind crossing the finish line in 19.1. Kittle was also second in the long jump going 13-6.

Young runners Megan Snook and Haley Higgins, both freshmen, were second and third respectively in the 800m run. They reversed positions to pick up points in the 1600 running just a second apart.
