STOCKTON _ The Lincoln High boys basketball team made it eight-straight last week with a 59-43 victory over Stagg.

Fighting Zebras head coach Robert Ash has his club believing in itself with the Pioneer Valley League set to start in a week. But a real test will come Wednesday against Del Oro, a perennial force in the Sierra Foothill League.

The Golden Eagles defeated the Wildcats for third place in the Whitney Winter Tournament last week. Del Oro comes into Lincoln with a 10-4 preseason record; the Zebras were 11-4.

Regardless of the outcome of that game, Lincoln was making final preparations for a run at the PVL title.

The Zebras are playing balanced basketball with three players averaging in double figures in scoring. The team is shooting 33 percent from beyond the 3-point arc, 42 percent inside of it and 70 percent from the foul line. The boys in blue are also pulling down an average of 41 rebounds a game.
