Lincoln High’s varsity boys soccer team remained undefeated in Pioneer Valley League play with a 1-0 victory over visiting El Dorado Monday. Uriel Moreno scored a first-half goal for Lincoln and that was enough for the victory as goalie Alejandro Perfino kept Lincoln’s net undisturbed. The Zebras are now 2-0-2 in league play while El Dorado dropped to 3-1. Colfax sits atop the league standings with its record of 3-0-1. Lincoln (3-5-2 overall) tied host Colfax 1-1 on Oct. 1 as both teams scored in the second half. Ali Jeffery had the goal for the Zebras while Brian Manning scored for the Falcons with just four minutes remaining to tie the match. “Alejandro came up with four big saves for us on 1-on-1 breakaways,” Lincoln coach Javier Banuelos said. “He stopped them all by himself.” Lincoln, which hosted Placer on Wednesday, will wrap up the first half of PVL play at 4 p.m. at Mesa Verde Monday. The Zebras will play their first match of the second half two days later at 4 p.m. against visiting Whitney. “Four teams are pretty much even (Lincoln, Colfax, El Dorado and Whitney),” said Banuelos, throwing the 2-2 Wildcats into the battle at the top of the PVL.
