Lincoln’s Croisant advances to state wrestling championships
Lincoln High School’s Landon Croisant fought his way to a seventh-place finish at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Tournament last weekend to earn a berth in the California State Championships March 1-2 at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield.
After losing his opening match at Masters, Croisant (145 pounds) went on a four-match tear to pick up three decisions and a fall before absorbing his second loss. He then won his consolation match for seventh place and a trip to State.
In other Masters matches, senior Ero Wainio (160) won his first two matches before suffering a loss. He then lost a 4-2 decision to come up a match short of a trip to State.
Freshmen Jaden Martinez (126) and Ryan Ojeda also came up short on earning a ticket to State. Ojeda finished 3-2 and lost a 5-3 decision in the match that would have gotten him to Bakersfield.
Croisant, a junior, will open at State wrestling Jason Ladd. Ladd is a senior from Clovis High School.
