Lighthouse appreciates support

-A +A
It is getting increasingly difficult to run nonprofits. The economy has affected the sustainability of many. Costs continue to rise, including the costs of insurance, supplies and even the cost to maintain good personnel. In addition, the level of sophistication demanded of nonprofits and the expectations of funders has grown. Government is working with less and expecting more of nonprofits. Businesses are being asked for money continually, making grant monies and sponsorship monies very competitive. Individuals are being asked to donate more and there are many worthy causes in which to give. I don’t think anyone would dispute the importance of nonprofits within our community. Nonprofits create a quality of life that affects each of us, directly or indirectly. Therefore, we collaboratively seek to maintain our quality of life and find solutions. Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center is in the center of these challenges and we are working hard to overcome and “think outside the box.” We are grateful to the community members and businesses working with us as part of the solution. I want to say thank you to every person who seeks to sacrifice and give to the Lighthouse. Your selfless care for others in the community is to be admired. Thank you to The Lincoln News Messenger for being such a “friend” to the nonprofits of this community. Thank you to all who served, supported and contributed to the Celebrity Waiter Luncheon, making it a successful event. Thank you to Buonarroti’s Ristorante for highlighting a dessert on the menu and giving a portion of the dessert proceeds to the Lighthouse. And finally, thank you to the Business Owner’s Management Association for choosing to have its annual golf tournament in Sun City and for making the Lighthouse the featured nonprofit benefitting from the event. During these challenging times, it really does “take a village” and we are so grateful to all of you who demonstrate such care and compassion for the people of this community and for the Lighthouse. Together, we make a difference. Angela Ponivas, executive director, Lighthouse Counseling & Family Resource Center
