For the first time in nearly two seasons, the Colfax High Lady Falcons’ soccer team found themselves Monday in an unfamiliar position in the Pioneer Valley League standings. Thanks to being “held” to a 1-1 tie last Thursday night at Bear River, coach Lefty Wilks’ defending PVL champion Lady Falcons dropped two points in the loop standings behind league leading Lincoln. However, Monday, in a make-up match with the Zebras on Colfax’s home pitch, the Lady Falcons restored order to the PVL standings in rather of fact fashion. Receiving goals from five different players and with assists on each, the Colfax girls regained the PVL lead with a dominating 5-0 win over the game but outgunned Zebras. “Just a great, great team effort,” said Wilks about the lopsided win which saw Colfax build a 3-0 lead at halftime and cruise home in the second half. “The girls did a nice job of sharing the ball and really played well.” The win for the Lady Falcons ups their PVL record to 4-0-1 going into Tuesday’s match at home against cellar dwelling Foothill. Colfax now has 13 points to lead Lincoln’s (4-1-0) 12 points in the standings. Bear River sits in third place (2-2-1) with seven points. The second half of league play begins for the Lady Falcons Thursday night at Placer under the lights at 7:15 p.m.. For Colfax, the goal scoring duties in the romp were handled by Alexis Wybrecht, Tori Anderson, Emilee Klug, Iona Lofrano and Katy Thomas. Meanwhile, credited with assists were Lofrano, Brittany Thomas, Sophia Satterlee, Kayla Garcia and Celeena Wall. Colfax goalkeeper Michaelynn Hoffman played solid behind a good defense with three saves.
