Knights’ crab feed successful

-A +A
The Saint Joseph Parish Council No. 9202, Knights of Columbus thanks the near-sellout crowd of 400 who enjoyed the sixth annual All-You-Can-Eat Crab Feed this past Saturday at McBean Pavilion. All profits go toward the many charities supported by the Knights. The Knights of Columbus are well known for their free annual Thanksgiving dinner the Sunday before Thanksgiving, their free annual Christmas and Easter children’s parties, and their support for many youth sports activities as well as scholarships for Lincoln High School graduates and religious seminarians. Besides the crab feed, The Knights of Columbus have an annual luau, Oktoberfest and monthly pancake breakfasts. The Knights of Columbus is a nonprofit organization and uses the profits from their events to aid charities and support youth activities. Most of the profits stay right here in Lincoln, although charities, such as the Wheelchair Foundation, use monies throughout the world to aid the disabled to gain increased mobility! Just last month, the Knights of Columbus announced that they would donate $1,200 to the Re-Direct program in Lincoln, which lost a large portion of its federal funding. This is an example of how the Knights of Columbus helps those in need. The Knight of Columbus wishes to thank the following businesses for their generous contributions to this year’s crab feed placemat advertising: Umpqua Bank, Denzler Family Dentistry, Lincoln Jewelers, Golden State Collision Center, Anthony Johnson CPA, A & R Automotive, Woodcreek Golf Course, Providence Properties, Duncan’s Automotive, Sierra Hills Framing, Gold Coast Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, and Eric’s X Press. Thank you to the youth who served at the event: the members of Squires Circle No. 5197 and the Edge Group from St. Joseph’s Parish. Special thanks to St. Joseph’s Church’s Fr. Eric Lofgren, and to religious education coordinator Sr. Elisa Grignoli, for support and guidance this past year. Without the volunteers, this event would not have happened. Special thanks go to our chef, Herb Pickell, for his unselfish commitment of time, treasure and talent and to the Filipino community for their generous support of the crab feed. Ron Wood, Crab Feed Chairman, Lincoln
