Kiwanis thanks Lincoln

-A +A
The Lincoln Kiwanis Club has just completed its sixth year selling See’s delicious candies for the Christmas holidays. All profits from these sales stay in our community to benefit the children of Lincoln. The club always has a kiosk at the Orchard Creek Lodge in Sun City Lincoln Hills and a second, busier location in Lincoln. This year’s location was in the Safeway shopping center in the former Blockbuster Video location. National Guard Sgt. 1st class Dave Partak (originator and National Guard representative of the See’s for Soldier’s program) presented the club not only with a bronze medal but also a bronze statue of the Minute Man, symbol of the National Guard, a rare honor for outstanding civilian support of the military. The presentation was made to the Lincoln Kiwanis for its outstanding efforts in collecting contributions of cash and candy sales to supply candy to our deployed military at Christmas time. The total shipped from Lincoln was 969 pounds – for which the club says they owe a huge “thank you” for the patriotic and generous support from the people of Lincoln. The National Guard ships all the candy from the 12 See’s fundraising locations at no charge to arrive on time for Christmas. The club also has the kiosk at Orchard Creek Lodge in Sun City Lincoln Hills at Easter time. Patricia Everett, Lincoln Kiwanis
