Kiwanis gives back to community with community’s help

-A +A
On behalf of the members of the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, and the people our organization serves, we would like to thank the community of Lincoln for your outstanding support in our ninth annual See’s Christmas Candy Sale. With this support, we were able to sell over $100,000 worth of candy. Our net sales will allow us to give back over $25,000 to our local projects and children here and around the globe. Included in our candy sale was a “See’s for Soldiers” program. Due to the generous support of our patrons, we collected over 707 pounds of candy for shipment overseas to our military troops. We especially want to thank the people of the River City Bank and Sun City Lincoln Hill’s Orchard Creek Lodge for providing us with wonderful sales locations. We appreciate Bern Grounds of Lincoln Auto Outlet and the McDonald’s Lincoln store for allowing us to place signs on their property and International Security Solutions for security support. We also thank the members of Cub Scout Park 185 and Boy Scout Troop 185 for your vigorous sign-waving efforts. This participation, alongside our 50-member Kiwanis team, proves that we can make a difference! These funds will be used to support many local programs as Kiwanis members help in the education of our youth, help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, and care for the sick. Your support directly reinforces our Kiwanis motto, “Serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time.” We would like to invite anyone interested in participating in Kiwanis projects to join us for breakfast at one of our Tuesday morning meeting. We meet every Tuesday at 7 a.m. for one hour at Café Buonarroti, 460 G St. in downtown Lincoln. Come see what we are all about.
