This promises to be an exciting weekend at the Lincoln Rodeo Grounds as the California High School Rodeo District 3 holds its semifinal senior event, final junior event, and the competition for next year’s rodeo queen. The pageant for queen is Friday, 5:30 p.m. The junior division will hold its final competition of the year with an awards ceremony to take place Sunday afternoon. The top performers will come away with saddles and belt buckles for their terrific performances this season. The senior division competitors will battle to put themselves into position to capture the top spot in each event. The District 3 rodeo finals will be held April 28-29 with the awards ceremony to follow on Sunday. The rodeos include both boys and girls competitions, plus team roping. The grill will be turning out Western style barbecue for the biggest of appetites each day with plenty of fixin’s and snacks throughout the day. There is no admission fee to get into the rodeos thanks to the many generous sponsors who support District 3 Rodeo. The state and national senior finals will take place later in the spring.
