Juniors All Stars can?t hold Rocklin in championship

Lincoln suffered a tough loss in the championship round of the District 11, Area 1 Juniors All Stars Tournament falling to Rocklin 11-0 in the seventh and final game Sunday. Lincoln gave up six runs in the first inning and simply could not recover. Lincoln?s Daniel Leyva and Matt Contreras did the pitching while getting solid defense from teammate Josh Clark. ?Baseball is a mental game,? said Leyva, who said maintaining a positive focus helped him in the tournament. The game ended with Lincoln?s PJ Manley in scoring position on third base. Lincoln 12, Tri-City 7 ? July 7 Lincoln eliminated Tri-City to earn a berth in the championship round. The boys in blue came up with nine runs in the fourth inning to put away the game. Clark and Manley had key hits to drive in runs with Clark, Colton Borgerson, Levya and Tommy Lesh all scoring. Defensively, pitchers Craig Schmich and Borgerson limited Tri-City?s production with the help of Clark behind the plate. Rocklin 8, Lincoln 5 ? July 5 Lincoln took a three-run lead in the second inning behind Leyva?s hitting. Borgerson, Contreras and Clark all scored. Borgerson closed the game on the mound. Lincoln 8, Tri-City 2 ? July 2 Miles Coffee pitched a solid game to help Lincoln send Tri-City into the elimination bracket. Lincoln took the 3-1 lead in the fourth inning and scored five more in the fifth. Tri-City was held to four hits during the entire game. ?Lincoln did a very good job of putting the ball in play against us,? said Tri-City manager John McGrath.
