Green Eggs and Ham author celebrated

Saturday, March 2

“Grab your Hat and Read with the Cat” is this year’s theme of NEA’s Read Across America celebration. Friends of the Lincoln Library will sponsor an afternoon of non-stop Dr. Seuss reading from special guest readers and fun crafts in the Twelve Bridges Library’s homework center from 2 to 4 p.m. March 2.

NEA’s Read Across America is an annual reading and motivation program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss (Theodor Seuss Geisel)

Motivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers, according to the Twelve Bridges Library staff. Research has shown that children who are motivated and spend more time reading do better in school.
