Granite Bay grad earns conference honors at next level
By: Staff Report
Former Granite Bay High baseball star Jeff Ringholm finished his college career at Cal Poly Pomona as an honorable mention all-conference selectino in the CCAA. Ringholm finished the season leading his club in hitting with a .389 batting average. He also led Cal Poly with a .457 on-base percentage and his slugging percentage of .504 was second on the team. The Grizzly alum started 38 of the last 39 games in left field and finished tied for sixth in the conference in hitting. While at Granite Bay Ringholm was first team all-league and team MVP as a junior, and then earned all-league honorable mention as a senior. His two years at Sierra College were equally impressive, as Ringholm hit .294 as a third baseman on a state playoff team his freshman season and then moved to second base for his sophomore campaign. His .304 average that year helped Sierra reach the state final four.
