Giants continue their hold on first place in Majors

The Lincoln Little League Majors? Rangers nearly picked up their first win of the season Monday night but the second-place Red Sox managed to come away with a 13-9 victory at Foskett Park. The league-leading Giants left little doubt they plan to stay in first putting up 19 runs on the Pirate last week before the rains returned. The Red Sox and Giants are schedule to go head-to-head tonight, 7:15 p.m., McBean Park. The Padres kept pace playing at McBean Park and defeating the Pirates 8-4, also on Monday night. The Friars are three games back of the Giants. In the home run derby, the Padres Charles Middleton has jacked four out of the park to lead the pack of 17 long-ball hitters. Just behind Middleton is teammate Gregory Pallas and Chad Bagwell of the Yankees with three each. Awaiting their next chance to go deep with two dingers each are Preston Eklund (Giants) and the Rangers? Leo Martinez and Lee Michaelson.
