On Aug. 6, the Native Sons of the Golden West will host a Grand Homecoming and All Class Reunion. The Grand Homecoming is open to graduates and all other residents. If you’ve been a longtime Lincolnite, you’ll see plenty of old friends and acquaintances. If you feel like you’re a Lincolnite, no matter how long you’ve called Lincoln home, it will be a lot of fun. Activities include dinner, live music and honoring Lincoln High graduates who have been outstanding in their respective fields. We also draw many family members and friends of the high school’s Hall of Fame inductees. Lincoln High School graduates George Ahart, Herbert Hughes, Aileen Gage and Evelyn Proocissi will be inducted this year into the 2011 Lincoln Hall of Fame. The Homecoming is a long-time tradition with the Native Sons, held every two years, for the last two decades. It is also one of the club’s main fundraisers. The Native Sons work to promote an appreciation of local history. The funds from the Homecoming will be used to support the Lincoln Area Archives, historic plaques, publishing local historic books, restoration of buggies, wagon, Archives Museum items and other history-related projects The Aug. 6 event will be held at the McBean Park Pavilion from 5 to 10 p.m. There will be a no-host bar, dinner by Simple Pleasures Catering and music by 2 Days Away. Reservations are required by Aug. 2 and the event is $30 per person. Reservation forms are available at Sierra Hills Framing, in this column and online at www.LincolnNativeSons.org. For questions, contact me at 645-8395 or Lincoln Archives Museum at 645-9972. For reservation questions, call Roberta Babcock at 645-3490. David Lightfoot is the Grand Homecoming and All Class Reunion chairman.
