Gas smell at City Hall not threatening
A gas smell at City Hall Thursday afternoon proved to be non-threatening, firefighters said.
City Councilwoman Linda Stackpoole said she smelled gas outside City Hall around 4 p.m.
“It smelled odd,” Stackpoole said.
No one was evacuated and the gas was determined to be rotting organic material coming from a nearby storm drain, said Capt. Steve Adcock of the Lincoln Fire Department’s Engine 34 B shift.
Adcock confirmed the gas was not harmful and firefighters made sure it was not flammable with a sensor.
“We’ll let Public Works know so they can flush the drain,” Adcock said.
