Fourth-grade teacher thanks VFW

-A +A
My fourth-grade class at First Street School would like to thank Commander Kent Parcell of the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) 3010 for his appearance and apology. Because of my initial letter to the editor regarding gun salutes during school hours without notice, Mr. Parcell took time out of his busy day to speak to my class and address their concerns. The children learned much about this great country because of his visit. This is what I call “community in action.” It is no mistake that I have taught in this district almost 30 years. Lincoln is a community that functions like a family. Through good times and bad times, we all come together to take care of our own. Jeaninne Kato, Rocklin
