As the cost of a college education continues to rise, high school student/athletes are spending a great deal of time and money to land scholarships. The National College Scouting Association will present a free program at Center High School to assist those making that search, Jan. 23. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer football player Julian Jenkins will be the guest speaker. The NFL Players Association and NCSA Athletic Recruiting Team have joined forces to help student/athletes in finding the right fit with the right school. The program is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Five guidelines are presented to help in the search; the first is how to develop a game plan on how to get evaluated. Second is information on posting an athletic/academic resume online. Third is developing a highlight video, and fourth is making contact with the schools of choice. And fifth is keeping those options open as each decision if one of a lifetime. Center High School is located 3111 Center Court Lane, Antelope. For more information, call NCSA’s Tiffany Menzione (312) 624-7437, or e-mail tmenzione@ncsasports.org. NCSA is a team of former professional athletes, coaches, and broadcaster who give of their time to assist students and parents in matching athletes with a good college. Team members volunteer their time so this information can be shared free of charge.
