Former Lincoln softball player honored for week’s performance
Lincoln High School graduate Nikoli Sharp took her softball skills to the University of Redlands in Southern California and performed well enough to earn Player of the Week recently.
The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognized Sharp after she went 6-for-6 at the plate in Redlands’ doubleheader sweep of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. Sharp’s performance included two doubles and a home run to drive in six runs. She also scored three times.
Besides slugging 1.833, Sharp also came on in relief to pitch two shutout innings.
As a senior with the Fighting Zebras, Sharp had a .448 batting average with10 doubles and four home runs. She also carried a .719 slugging average with a.470 on-base percentage.
As a pitcher, she had 10 wins during the 2011 season with 52 strikeouts.
That season, Lincoln finished first in the Pioneer Valley League with a 9-1 record. The Zebras also defeated River Valley in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division III Playoffs before falling to Pioneer and Whitney.
