Fiscal sustainability committee chairman disagrees with mayor

In a (page A3) article in The News Messenger last week (March 15, “City Council taking fiscal committee’s report seriously”) on the fiscal sustainability committee, Mayor Spencer Short was quoted as saying there is an “apparent disconnect between what they understood and what their mission was” and “The citizens group is formed and tasked with preparing a plan. There isn’t really a plan but a number of recommendations ...” We respectfully disagree with this assessment and look forward to presenting our study conclusions and plan to a special city workshop on April 19 held in City Hall at 6 p.m. We encourage the community to attend this session and, in the interim, to read the full report or executive summary at our website: lincolnfsc.org.
