Fire sparked by juveniles

Flames contained to field near Lincoln city limits, no structures threatened
Two teens from Lincoln sparked a small vegetation fire in Rocklin on Sunday, Rocklin Police said. Shortly after 3 p.m., Rocklin police and fire personnel responded to a reported vegetation fire near Ranch View Drive and Windrow Lane, close to the Rocklin and Lincoln city limits. No structures were immediately threatened by the flames, said Lt. Lon Milka of the Rocklin Police Department. The flames quickly spread to cover about 50 square yards and crews had a difficult time accessing the fire with heavy equipment because of the terrain, police said. The ground was really muddy, Milka said. There wasn't a whole lot of vegetation because of the winter month. An eyewitness told police he heard and saw two people flee from the scene shortly after the fire began, Milka said. After containing the fire, Rocklin Police were able to locate the two suspects with the help of the Lincoln Police Department and the eyewitness. Two Lincoln teens, whose names were withheld because they are minors, were cited for arson as a result. The case will be referred to the Placer County Probation Department, Milka said.
