The Lincoln Fire Department responded to 53 calls for service during the week ending Aug. 28. The incident totals and types included: • 39 Emergency Medical Service calls – (Medical Aids) • 8 Fire Calls – Including one residential structure fire and three smoke investigations • 2 Public Assists • 4 Good Intents The Lincoln Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire with people still inside the building on Aug. 27. First arriving units found moderate smoke from an attached garage with occupants attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. The fire was quickly extinguished but not before causing approximately $15,000 in damage. Two people were treated on scene for smoke inhalation. There were no firefighters injured. The cause of the fire is undetermined and unable to rule out an accidental cause. The response included four engine companies, one truck company, one ambulance, and two command staff for a total of 18 personnel. The Lincoln Fire Department provided information.
