Fire Log Log for the Week Ending Oct. 17 The Lincoln Fire Department responded to 66 calls for service during the week ending Oct. 17. The incident totals and types included: 51 Emergency Medical Service calls - (Medical Aids) 5 Fire Calls – Including a fence fire, one grass fire, one transient camp fire, one vehicle fire and one garage fire. 1 Hazardous Condition – Including a strong odor coming from a trailer 2 Public Assists 4 Good Intents 3 False Alarms The Lincoln Fire Department was dispatched to a small fence fire between two homes. When firefighters arri-ved, the homeowners had already extinguished the fire. One homeowner said that he smelled smoke and, when he went outside, he saw two ice chests and his fence on fire. Firefighters were also dispatched to a grass fire. They arrived to find approximately a quarter acre of grass on fire with a slow rate of spread. Many witnesses saw two male juveniles running from the area as the fire started. The firefighters were able to put out the fire with no trouble. At the time, there were sheep grazing in the area but a local resident was able to move them before the fire reached them. The fire is under investigation and no arrests have been made. Another fire-related call was for a possible transient campfire under the Auburn Ravine Bridge. Firefighters found a small smoldering warming fire and quickly extinguished the spot. Firefighters ended a busy week by responding to a detached garage fire. When firefighters arrived, they found a small fire between the wall and the ceiling with locals trying to extinguish.
