The Lincoln Fire Department was dispatched to a dust collector (hopper) fire at a local cabinet shop. Fortunately, the hopper was located on the exterior of the building. A passerby noticed the fire and informed the shop’s workers who then called 911. The fire was knocked down quickly with two engine companies but took more than an hour to fully extinguish. No one was injured and property damage was limited to the hopper.
Firefighters were kept fairly busy during a very windy March 29. The wind was a primary factor in a tree falling into a house on Nicolaus Road. The home sustained major damage. Firefighters called city of Lincoln building officials to the scene to survey the damage. The residents had left the home just prior to the tree crushing parts of the home so no one was injured.
Another incident of note was a small bark fire reported next to a home. Firefighters were able to extinguish and overhaul the area with minimal damage.
