Fire Log for two weeks ending Sept. 19 The Lincoln Fire Department responded to 113 calls for service during the two-week period ending Sept. 19. The incident totals and types included: 79 Emergency Medical Service calls - (Medical Aids) 2 Fire calls – Including two vegetation fires 2 Hazardous Condition calls– Including gravel dumped on roadway and a gas spill 9 Public Assists 17 Good Intents 3 False Alarms The Lincoln Fire Department was dispatched to a hazardous condition call where a gravel truck lost approximately more than a yard of gravel. The gravel was spread onto the roadway when the firefighters arrived. The firefighters assisted the truck driver with cleaning the gravel off the roadway. The second hazardous condition call was a vehicle leaking oil onto the roadway. When the firefighters arrived, they found an SUV on the side of the road and the owner was standing next to it. The vehicle owner said the engine malfunctioned. The owner was able to stop the leak but some residual oil and the filter was dumped on the roadway. Firefighters assisted Public Works with the clean up. The first fire was a vegetation fire, which was originally reported as a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found that the fire was between two houses in the landscaping. Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire. The overall fire was about 8’ by 15’ spot of landscaping that was destroyed. The estimated property loss is $300. The second vegetation fire was small.
