The Lincoln varsity girls golf team won its first Pioneer Valley League match against Center, 272-294, Sept. 8 at Turkey Creek Golf Club. Fighting Zebras’ senior Jisu Yoo won the nine-hole match with a score of 49. Senior Allison Koehler finished third with a 55. Three girls shot 56 for head coach Tim Allen – Kirstie MacQueen, Abbie Faingold and Kaitlyn McKinney. “It was a pretty consistent effort. None of the girls played great,” Allen said. Allen said playing at Turkey Creek gives his girls an advantage. “The girls know the course really well. Turkey Creek is a difficult course and that’s why we see a lot of the girls from other schools struggle on our course,” he said, “while our girls seem to be pretty consistent out there.” He is excited to get the season underway. “We have a pretty special team this year just because a lot of them are seniors,” Allen said. “We’re hoping we’ll do pretty well in league, we’ll see. We still have Bear River and Placer to play.” Football The Lincoln High School varsity football team fell to 1-2 on the season losing to Yuba City on the road, 41-28, Sept. 9.
