Faber undergoes surgery on injured hand
By: Brandon Darnell, News Messenger Reporter
Lincoln native Urijah Faber was under the knife Tuesday as doctors worked to repair broken bones in his broken hand following his loss in a fight Sunday night to Mike Brown. “His hands were so swollen that the X-rays were inconclusive,” said Mike Roberts, Faber’s manager. With inconclusive X-rays, Roberts said doctors wouldn’t know how many bones were broken until they went into surgery. At press time, Roberts said he didn’t know how long Faber would be out but speculated that it would be about six months. “Nobody wants to sit out six months but he’s a gamer and he’ll find something to do,” Roberts said. Sunday’s fight at Arco Arena was a rematch between Faber and Brown, with Faber looking to take the World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight title. At this time, Faber has no more fights scheduled, according to Roberts, who said Faber will return once his injuries are healed.
