Today, let’s do a mostly flat jaunt north and east of town.

Remember to wear a helmet and check your tires before you leave. And take your cell phone and some water.

Start at McBean Park Pavilion (65 McBean Park) and go north on East Avenue to Seventh Street.

Take a left on Seventh to Highway 65 (Lincoln Boulevard) past Gladding, McBean factory to Gladding Road. Then right on Gladding  Road and proceed to Wise Road. Take a right on Wise Road and keep  going past McCourtney Road to Garden Bar.

Take a right on Garden Bar to Fruitvale Road and turn left. After a short distance, take a right onto Fowler Road and go to Virginiatown Road. This is a good spot to take a break, stretch and drink some water.

Go right on Virginiatown Road and enjoy the views. Proceed past Hungry Hollow to East 12th Street to Carlin Coppin School and turn left on East Avenue. Take East Avenue back to McBean Park Pavilion.

The ride you just covered is 13 miles. I hope you enjoyed the route as much as I do. The rural rides around Lincoln are a joy to take.

So until next week, be careful out there and remember to share the road as cyclist or a motorist. Common courtesy is the best policy.
