Election time prompts poem on politicians

-A +A

I like them as individuals.

They all have good things about them.

I don’t want to take sides.

I don’t want to express my opinion.

I don’t want to offend anyone.

I don’t want to hear gossip

or have my words twisted.

It’s happened before.

Living in a small town

it’s hard

not to become aligned

with one side or another.

It’s like what Grandma used to say,

“We don’t talk about religion or politics.”

Maybe, she was right.

I’ll heed her advice,

For if I ever got started,

I might not stop.
