It is that time of the year when families come together in a special way to celebrate the birth of Jesus and celebrate the blessings bestowed upon them.
Unfortunately, many families have encountered extreme hardship throughout the year and cannot meet their basic living needs, let alone toys for the children.
The Lions Club is asking for donations to help support their Christmas Food Basket Program. Last year, over 425 families received boxes for food and, with the partnership of the Marines’ Toys for Tots program, provided toys for over 1,000 children in the Lincoln area.
Since 1955, the Lions Club has raised and returned to the community over $1,500,000 in dental, vision and medical care, scholarships and assistance to many middle and high school athletic teams.
The club now asks, if at all possible during this difficult time for many families, that donations be made to the Lions to fulfill the needs and sustain the hope of those with so little at this time.
Donations are asked to be sent to the Lincoln Lions Club, P.O. Box 143, Lincoln, CA 95648. All food and toys will be delivered on Saturday, Dec. 22.
Thank you ahead of time for your thoughtfulness and a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Bob Noyes, Basket program chairman, Lincoln
