Don’t let Labor Day be boating disaster day
By: Staff Report
The North American Safe Boating Campaign slogan is “Wear It!” Labor Day is often the final day boaters head out for one more outing on the water before the weather changes. The NASBC strongly recommends that all safety precautions be followed – including lifejackets be worn by everyone on board. Approximately 500 people in this country drown each year. The U.S. Coast Guard reports that 84 percent of those who drown as a result of boating accidents were not wearing lifejackets.
