Chocolate coconut praline cake, chocolate truffles, brownie caramel pecan bars, apple raisin walnut pie. This is what you can expect at Lincoln’s ninth annual Dessert Extravaganza at 6:30p.m. Saturday, March 27. The desserts, made by residents and school parents, are judged by a panel of celebrity judges made up of local officials and event sponsors. First, second and third-place awards are given in four dessert categories: cakes, confections, cookies and pies. There is also a People’s Choice Award. The Dessert Extravaganza is open to the public and held at the Community Center at the corner of Joiner Parkway and 1st Street. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at Community Christian Schools, at the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce or at the door. Ticket holders may taste an unlimited number of desserts. A limited number of “I Bought It” tickets are also available for $20 and allows the holder to purchase a whole dessert. In addition to the dessert tasting will be raffle prizes, a silent auction and a live auction. All the proceeds benefit Community Christian Schools in Lincoln. To enter a dessert, fill out a dessert entry form online at before Monday. For more information, call Community Christian Schools at 645-6280. ~ Staff report
